This has been a dilemma for me. I have done it but have used
absorbable antibiotic beads (CaSu + tobra + vanco) and then cover with
atb for a longer period. I would expect a higher but still acceptable
rate of infection and then be prepared to remove hardware when healed.
I would be interested in others views.
